Abstract

This is the most important of the three maps showing the distribution of 815 generating stations. The reason is that size (capacity) matters. There is a tremendous size range - stations range from 500 kilowatts to more than 5 000 000 kilowatts. There is no obvious pattern of where large or small stations are found across Canada. However, stations in the northern part of Canada are invariably small, while most of the largest stations (over 1 000 000 kilowatts) are found in the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence area.
