In 2006 The Atlas of Canada celebrated 100 years of mapping Canada’s geography and history. The Atlas belongs to all Canadians and reflects the incredible social, environmental and economic diversity of this great country. As Canada’s premiere online mapping resource, the Atlas offers a wealth of resources for everyone. Events – Celebrate
One hundred years of mapping Canada is quite an accomplishment to celebrate. Here are some of the highlights.
- Official 100th Anniversary Launch – The first 100th Anniversary event in March 2006.
- 100th Anniversary Conference – The Atlas of Canada’s big celebration in June 2006.
- Commemorative Stamp from Canada Post – In June 2006, Canada Post issued a stamp to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first Atlas of Canada.
- Gold Medal from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society – Presented to The Atlas of Canada in honour of 100 years of building Canada’s mapping heritage.
- The Atlas Celebrates the Gold Medal – Presentation of the Gold Medal to the Atlas of Canada Program staff.

To commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Atlas of Canada, there were many special projects including the following.

- The Atlas of Canada’s 100th Anniversary Cartographic Exhibit – A special exhibit showing 100 years of maps from the Atlas of Canada.
- Maps at Tim Hortons – Special Atlas of Canada map display at 588 Booth Street in Ottawa.
