As part of the Atlas of Canada Program, a series of maps and analytical texts and data have been published that reflect a wide range of water related subjects. In the context of the Environment, the topic of Hydrology describes the distribution of water on and under the earth’s surface.  Maps in this section deliver information on Drainage Basins, Watersheds (including Physical and Human Components of Watersheds) and Current Water Levels.  The Natural Hazards segment focuses on water based hazards including flooding, storm surges and tsunamis.  Sea ice, its formation and movement is presented for both summer and winter conditions. The Climate series delivers maps showing Snow Cover and Precipitation – both in relation to the Canadian seasons. In the context of Freshwater, users are offered maps showing the Distribution of Freshwater, Recreational Uses and Water Consumption.
