A map of Canada coloured to show the percentage of local areas which are made up of wetlands. The colour classes show 0 to 5, 6 to 25, 26 to 50, 51 to 75 and 76 to 100% of land in wetlands. Wetlands are found in about half of Canada – the major areas with few wetlands are for most of the North, and most of the far west. The class with highest proportions, 76 to 100% wetlands, occur in three parts of Canada: in Ontario and Manitoba along Hudson and James Bays, in Manitoba around Lake Winnipeg, and in parts of Northwest Territories and adjacent areas of northern Alberta.
