Forests have always been a source of life and survival for all people, since the firsts humans arrived on this land that is now Canada. For some people, the forests bring spiritual well-being; for others, they provide daily necessary materials. Forests give shelter and food. They are also a source of income and leisure.
The two maps in this theme compare the location of the forests in relation to the population total distribution of Canada in 1996, and specifically the relationship to the distribution of the Aboriginal population.
