Audio Transcript: On 27 March 1651, Father Buteux accompanied by Godefroy and 40 Attikamegues, left Trois-Rivières for the source of the Saint-Maurice River. Arriving back in Trois-Rivières 18 June 1651, they became the first white men to travel up the St. Maurice River as far as the territory of the Attikamegues (about 300 kilometres north of Trois-Rivières).
