Audio Transcript: On 21 April 1664, Fathers Amiot and Novuel travelled down from Québec along the north shore to near Tadoussac. On May 3, the two Frenchmen left Tadoussac, and penetrated overland to the river Peritibistokou [aux Outardes] which they reached 14 May. On 2 June, from here they travelled upstream, making a portage to reach the river Manikouaganistikou [Manicouagan], and eventually reached Lake Sainte-Barnabé [Lac Manicouagan) on 9 June. Here Father Novuel established a mission among the Papinachois, called Saint-Barnabé. The expedition returned to Québec on 30 June 1664.
