Audio Transcript of Charles Albanel and Paul Denys de Saint-Simon 1671 to 1672


Audio Transcript: Between August 1671 and August 1672 Denys accompanied the Jesuit Albanel on a difficult journey from Tadoussac to James Bay in order to claim the territory for France and to christianise local Aboriginal peoples en route. On 9 July 1672, Denys planted the coat of arms of France at Lake Némiskau just east of Hudson Bay.
