Audio Transcript of Charles Le Moyne de Longueuil and Pierre Joseph Céloron 1739


Audio Transcript: In 1739, the Governor of Louisiana launched a campaign against the Chickasaws, a tribe friendly to the English. In the fall of 1739, Le Moyne and Céloron from French Canada, led a force of 200 French Canadians and 300 Aboriginal peoples south to the territory of the Chickasaws. The force travelled from Lake Erie down the Allegheny River and onto the Ohio River.
