Audio Transcript of William Moor and Francis Smith 1747

Audio Transcript: Once again, in a search for the Northwest Passage, Moor in the Dobbs, and Smith in the smaller California, were funded by the Hudson’s Bay Company to discover this passage. After wintering at York Factory [York Fort], the two ships set out in the summer of 1747 and explored most of the west coast of the Hudson Bay between latitudes 61° N and 65° N, where they discovered the Chesterfield Inlet, and travelled up the Wager Bay for approximately 240 kilometres (150 miles).
