Audio Transcript of William Coats 1749


Audio Transcript: In 1749, Coats was selected by the Hudson’s Bay Company to renew the exploration of the east coast of Hudson Bay and James Bay begun five years earlier by Mitchell and Longland. Coats explored 500 miles of coastline ranging from Cape Digges at the entrance of Hudson Strait southward to Richmond Gulf.
