Map of the Area of the 22 November 1752 Treaty
Map of the Area of the 22 November 1752 Treaty
Historical Background: Due to the continued hostility from Micmacs, Governor Cornwallis of Nova Scotia once again sought a renewal of the 15 December 1725 treaty with the Micmac, similar to the treaty made with the Malecite in 1749. In Halifax on this date, Chief Cope of the Shubenacadie tribe (from mainland Nova Scotia), agreed to "renew, confirm and observe the conditions of the Treaty of 1725".
