Abstract

This map was published to mark the new territory of Nunavut on April 1, 1999 and shows Canadian provincial and territorial boundaries. The map includes:

  • the location and name of each National Park as of early 1999
  • a selection of populated places along with territorial, provincial and national capitals, with population data reflecting the 1996 Census, and names and status of populated places is as of early 1999
  • major rail and road transportation networks as well as airports
  • ice cover and glaciers
  • rivers and lakes
  • offshore features such as Canada's offshore boundaries, and Canada's Exclusive 200 mile Economic Zone (EEZ), also known as the 200 mile fishing limit

The representation of political features on this map does not necessarily reflect the position of the Government of Canada on international issues of recognition, sovereignty or jurisdiction. Political status is as of April 1999.
